Hi.
Tried those echo commands, nothing.
I used jaws for dos to see if that worked and it did (I start slackware from dos using loadlin).
When the kernel boots however, the blt clicks on like it's going to say something, but nothing happens.
Below is the line I use to start linux encase it helps.

smartdrv /C
c:\loadlin\loadlin c:\linux\vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 speakup_synth=bns speakup_ser=0

Hi.
I just wanted to know what the default serial port settings are in linux.  I can't seem to get my hardware synth to work in linux, but it works in winblows on the same machine.
