The personal desktop and workstation types failed completely. The software was put onto the system to run, but no speech in either of those installation types. tried both telinit 5 and startx. Startx so far doesn't work in server type over here but telinit 5 did work. I expect the custom type to do no better than personal desktop or workstation. If you are going to refer the user to documentation it might be a good idea to refair them to a section of the manual explaining what ever it is they are asking about. Also not every user understands what the manual is talking about. As far as gnopernicus goes I do not see a manual page nor a info page on it. It is not covered in any of the users guide I have seen so far. So where do we go to rtfm as you put it. Remember experts out there that you were a new user once. Hi, Then if I spoke out of turn again I must humbly apologize. My impression was that he was having trouble getting gnopernicus working not having trouble getting fc3 installed. Gnopernicus does not work yet over here yet and I rtfm everything I can find so far on getting it working. The debian package that is built in just will not work for the life of me. I am going to check out a copy from cvs later and see if I can make that work. Even if you think the manual he should be reading is oveus you might want to inform him to reread section x.x of said manual. For example in section x of the howto it clearly states to use a server install and to select everything everything will give you just that everything. For more information see the manual. What is "type?" If by "type," you actually mean the "sintallation class," you're not going to get Gnopernicus out of "Server" or "Custom." Follow the instructions and check "Everything" in the subsequent package selection screen. You're trying to cut corners and that's just not smart.
