Have been working with the head developer for a linux distribution called Sorcerer Linux. Kyle's added speakup in to the installation kernel for the system and included it on the iso image that's used to install the system. I'd test it out but I won't have a cd burner til tomorrow and am wondering if there's anyone willing to burn the cd and let me know if you can get it to speak. http://sorcerer.wox.org/download is the place to get the image. The iso is distributed as a bz2 file so you'll need to run it through bunzip2 before burning to cd. Actually, you should be able to copy the boot file to a floppy. The method a CD uses to boot is there must be an image file of a floppy disk. This is what is actually booted from. I think there might be a screen before the boot prompt though which I wouldn't know about. will play a little more on the week end and see if I can get it working. Yes, loadlin has a problem booting kernels of 1024 kb. I have a 900k kernel here, which loadlin just refuses to boot, it just locks up.
