Unfortunately this company is non-profit and does not want to spend money on
the software. That is why they want to use Linux. And the How to on the
speakup site does not tell you how to put it on the cd.

You don't "unpack" them. That's not what they're for. The HOWTO explains
in great detail how to create a CD ROM from these files. It also
explains how to install directly from these files without ever creating
a CD ROM.
The images on the Speakup site are, however, out of date. Even though
you've gone to the trouble of downloading them, you'd be better served
to get a shrink-wrapped copy of Red Hat 8.0 at your favorite computer
software store or on the net. Just make sure you get Red Hat 8.0.
Everything you need will be inside the box. Then you can install the
latest and greatest following the instructions in the HOWTO.

Hi. Do you have a winblows box with a cd burner running something like
adaptech or nero? Just use them to burn a cd using the iso image.

Pardon me if I misunderstood you.
It would be out of scope for the Speakup Modified HOWTO to explaain how
to create CD ROMs. It couldn't possibly do that for all operating
environments and all programs that create CD ROMs.
Consult the documentation for the software you use to create CD ROMs.
It's not hard, but you do need software, and you do need a burner.
So, if this is a burden, go buy a shrink-wrapped st of Red Hat 8.0.
You'll get the same functionality even more up to date. Certainly your
company can afford the $20-$50 cost of Red Hat?

Hello, we're working on a software synth driver for Speakup as a
project for college. Part of our project involves measuring the impact
that such a driver would have.
As such, it would be a great help for us if some of you could fill out
a short survey we have about speakup and similar screen readers. It's
not long, but having a good number of responses would really help us
with our write up.

Many thanks to everyone who fills is out!

Hi there, there's a problem with your survey, it gives an internal server
error when one tries to submit it, tried using both windows and linux from
here, write to me when it's fixed and I'll probably give it another go.
Good luck and hth.

Hello,
When submitting your form, I got the server-side error shown below.
My browser is emacs/w3 4.0 pre.46. Im using emacspeak 17.0. An xsl
transformation is applied, which linearizes any tables.

Same problem here.
Also, please clarify the wording of your last question, because it doesn't make sense.

Thanks to everyone for pointing out the problem. I got the script working
on my own account and something fubar'ed when I moved it to the group
webpage, despite the two files being identical (yes I diff'ed to check).
WPI has interesting cgi setup issues.
Because the copy on my account works fine if you would please try again at
www.wpi.edu/~ender3rd/public_html/cgi-bin/survey/survey.html or go to
www.wpi.edu/~blinux and follow the link.
Several people also mentioned that the last question is vague, this was
intentional although I have rephrased it. Basically I'm looking for ideas
on how speakup and similar programs are used "in the field". Please feel
free to expound at length and/or email with extra information if you wish.
Thanks again for the prompt response,

A good thing to check would be the shebang line of the script that handles
the form if you're using something like a perl script. if it doesn't
point to perl apache will throw up errors like this.
