All you are doing is introducing censorship!

If you are a windows user for reading your mail, and don't want your computer attacked with every virus that happens down the wire, then get an anti virus program and run it on your computer.

If you don't like HTML in in your messages, do like some members of the list do, and right a process to strip it off. In fact, if you ask the right people, they may even share what they have already developed for this process. (No, I am not the one using a stripping process.)

There are reasons for people to have their format set the way in which they do, and I don't think that a list should be censoring the formatting of a message.

In my case, the corporate standard is to have the email client respond to a message in the same format that it was sent in. They would also prefer use of html so that any url's sent in a message are easily accessed, and active.

So, if you choose to implement such a form of censorship, then I guess that I will be dropped from the list automatically. Yes some of you will say no loss, but then I guess I would no longer be able to help those where and when I can. To those people, I will say sorry in advance, list censorship prevents me from assisting you.

Come on, folks, take some responsibility for your own set ups, and stop trying to pass off the responsibility on to some else. There is too much of NIMBY in the world today to have it show up here on the list.
(NIMBY, Not In My BackYard!)

Frankly, I am tired of hearing about the email formatting woes, and that is all this thread is about, when you dig down to the bottom of the problem.
A wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf!

Hi

Just trying to catch up with my mail and I'm surprised of who this
thread has been treated. I having moved all my mail handling over to a
Debian box, won't be infected by the current viruses. I was just
attempting to establish some common sense and care for those who take an
interest in GNU/Linux.

Obviously, others have different ideas. Please ramble on about MS
products and web sites but stop taking the piss and generate another
subject heading.

This is not the case.

I was just looking for this very thing yesterday, and the results from a
google search were somewhat surprising.

Steps to duplicate:
goto:
www.google.com/linux
Enter the search string:
antivirus

and you will see what I mean.

No way!

Windows users should employ a anti virus strategy. The responsibility
lies with the recipient of the mail, and not the list service.

Just my opinion!

Hi All

Because of the use of html messages being used to transmit Windows
viruses, I wondered if folks would agree to having list messages
restricted to plain text only?

The list owner will act upon whatever the consensus is.
