sHello,

I am wondering what distro of linux should I use? I've used redhat, mandrake, slackware and a few other distros, and I've been out of the linux world for a while. Tnx in advanced.

Also, if you want a distro that includes speakup in the stock CD-ROMS out of the box, go for slackware.

No, Slackware requires its own partition. You can however install zipslack on a fat/fat32 partition.

If you replace the vmlinuz kernel in the distro with the speakup.s kernel, then yes, it comes with speakup.

Janina, I am having trouble recalling the things you can't do in the zipslack environment. So, if you could jog my memory and that of the other zipslack proponents, and backup your statement with facts, myself, as well as the newbies I'm sure, would appreciate it.

Naturally, everything under the sun can't be included in zipslack, because then it would be too big. Also, if you find that zipslack is missing things that you need, there is nothing stopping you from installing the extra needed slackware packages.

I personally prefur Norton Ghost for this procedure, but of
>course it's up to you.

Why use Norton Ghost if partition image
http://www.partimage.org
can do the same job, and it's under the GPL, which Norton Ghost is obviously not?

Oh really? I thought that fat/fat32 was also Microsoft's property, yet support for both happens to be in the stock Linux kernel.
