updating the kernel

updating the kernel

I am trying to update my Kernel to the latest one for fedora 2 so I can have a 
newer version of speakup.  I did
rpm -i k.i686.rpm


it looked like it installed, but when I rebooted there was a message that said 
Kernel 2.6.6-1.435.2.3spk

What do I need to do to use the new kernel?

Did you update your boot manager to tell it to use the new kernel.
You need to tell lilo or grub to use the new kernel as the default boot.
