Is there a better editor to use, or, are there some speakup key strokes that would make it go more smoothly. Ameenah ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 9+ messages in thread

If you know your physics, nano is like pico only more so. It tracks the cursor better than pico and offers other extra features too. On Fri, 22 Mar 2002, Thomas D. I discovered yesterday, that I can cut from a speakup console to one running emacs. I'm frankly delighted! Ann P. -- Ann K. The speakup clipboard is absolutely wonderful. Not only can you copy to another console, if you've logged into another computer, over ssh, for example, you can clipboard across country! <grin> On Sat, 23 Mar 2002, Ann Parsons wrote: > Hi all, > > Have to agree on the Emacs choice, however, I have to say here and > now, that I really, really, really appreciate the cut and paste > feature of speakup! Where can I download Nano. I have heard of it, but never knew where to get it. Thanks. It has search and replace, regular expressions, and the cursor tracking works when moving left and right but not yet when moving up and down. In pico it does not work in either direction, so I guess that means nano is half way there. Interesting that there is so much variation among the different editors as far as the speakup cursor tracking behavior is concerned. Chuck On Sat, 23 Mar 2002, Dan Murphy wrote: > Hi Charles. Well I just installed it, and what pleases me most is that backspace works, more or less. One of the things I find most welcome when writing mail. I don't consider myself a *good* typist, but if I make a mistake, I don't want to be floundering around to ffind it, let alone fix it. thanks. Ward ` Charles Hallenbeck @ ` Dave Hunt < 1 sibling, 0 replies; 9+ messages in thread From: Dave Hunt < @ UTC (permalink / raw) To: speakup Hi, Assuming you're using the Speakup keymap, try turning on the "cursoring" toggle, once you've entered vim's "insert" mode. I think you'll find that it tracks your movements quite well. To get output reliably spoken from the shell, turn off the toggle. -Dave ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 9+ messages in thread
