more Samba help please?

ok I have no trouble in talking to my windblows 2000 box. now, what I want
to do now is use the netbios name Shaun as that is the account setup on my
windows machine. Considering that my netbios name for linux is the same as
my isp that being "goanna", how do I change it to use 'Shaun'?

ok kirk, I figured it out.
All I had to do was get the syntax of the mount command correct and bugger
me if it worked!
Now how to get my partners puter to see me?
I asked her to try and access my drive, and she got a login box. it said
connect as, and password. does she put in the username I setup for her in
the connect as field? or something else?

Well, I setup a user on my winblows to match my name on linux. But if you
find a way to map a winblows name to a different one on linux I would love
to know it. (Though if you got a nfs client for winblows it would allow
for it.)

She will need to put in the user name and password you gave her in the
connect as box. Otherwise it will not allow her any access.

Kirk and others.  To use different windows names that don't necessarilly
match the linux names you can add this line to the global section of
smb.conf

username map = /etc/smb/usermap

Or you can place the file where ever your other smb configs are.  Now the
usermap file will look like this:

raul = RaulGallegos
test = TestUser

The first entry is the smb username and the 2nd entry is the windows
username.
