I think I might have figured out how to install realplayer.....I hope. I
really wish they told you how to do it, it would help a lot:p

well, now I'm trying to install the trplayer thing, I get theese errors
when I run ./trplayer.

./trplayer: error in loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2:
cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can someone tell me what I'm missing please?

Assuming you already copied in the real player libraries mentioned
previously, be sure and do a "ldconfig" That updates your shared library
list as I understand it. Until you do that, I don't think those new
libraries are available to the world. Give that a try.

The problem was that libstc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is an old library, we had
to install it separatly for compability. It doesnt have anything to do
with trlpayer itself, except that trplayer is compiled against it. The
trplayer developer should really recompile it using newer libraries.

the real system sdk is somewhere on real.com. I'm not exactly sure
where it is bc it's been a while since i downloaded it but I know you

Hi all.
I've been trying to compile trplayer from source, and have had some
issues, some of which I've fixed, but will document for anyone else
experiencing it in the future.
1. config.sub, config.guess, and install.sh are missing. I copied
config.sub and config.guess from /usr/share/automake-1.7, and wrote a
basic install.sh that copies trplayer over to /usr/local/bin; I hope that
it does what was expected!
2. The link on the speakup site for the realsystems g2 sdk is broken.
This is the only remaining problem to compiling that I can see. Btw, is
anyon still maintaining trplayer? If not, I believe I would have enough
time nowadays to maintain it, and occasionally make new releases,
especially with spring break and the summer coming up.
Thanks in Advance,

Ameer

My information may be slightly out of date as I haven't
looked at trplayer in a while. Someone has already
addressed the -q switch. As for buffer sizes, there is
very little control trplayer actually has over things like
buffering and sound. It's an interface to REalNetwork's
libraries so you can't set buffer sizes or even set the
soundcard on which to output.

I doubt that's a shortfall of trplayer itself, probably
just the proprietary library.

Cheers,
Shane

How do i get trplayer to set its buffering options higher? and is trplayer's defaults to repeat the same message over and over until it's done buffering?

Good points. Guess I still hold out hope of redemption. But then that's

Heck, if I really get offended, I know how to build a kill file.

it's too bad we have to continue dignifying this man's ignorance by being
offended. if all he can manage to do is be a foul-mouthed creten and
that's the best human being he can be then I accept tiler with his

The invention of the printing press has been named the crowning achievment
of the past millenium. Yet, electronic publishing will soon eclipse it.
Read our White Paper: "Surpassing Gutenberg" available at:

Are you developing software? Make it accessible to blind computer users.
Read http://www.afb.org/technology/accessapp.html to learn how.

Hi:

If you have a look in your home directory, you'll find a file called
.RealNetworks_RealMediaSDK_60 (note the leading dot). Despite the data at
the top that would suggest otherwise, this seems to be an editable text
file. I changed the proxy setting in this file and it did take effect.
Take care with editing it as I'm not sure what the data at the top is and
how important it is.

So this stuff is editable. Having said that, a config editor would be cool
and I think it might be somewhere on Matt Campbell's todo-someday list.
Even without one, this is still far more control than people had with the X
application.

Geoff.

Apparently don't know how to set word wrap, either. Or ask questions
politely. Or ask questions without being unnecessarily rude and critical.
