hi guys, I asked Kirk about this earlier today. I've created a channel on
irc.openprojects.net with the name of #speakup.
I've been on openprojects.net for the last several days, and really like
the people, the staff and the environment. I thought it'd be fun to create
a channel on there for speakup to discuss the speakup project and other
things that come up on this list.
lilo@staff.opn)] talk to you after while....welcome them to OPN on my
behalf!
reguards,
Deedra

He's definitely in support of Linux accessibility...we'd actually talked about it for ages before I was able to run anything on my own (that is...before I had a supported synth...) Guess we started chatting about it at science fiction dinners at the U. of TX in 1994. I can hardly believe it. ... Anyway, Rob's great! I disagree. BitchX is awful to get useful feedback from, for example. However, xchat-text is really nice and clean. I guess a lot of people will prefer irc as they can hide their identity away as the voice gives so much more than the words it carries. You've just admitted that irc takes some setting up. You have more choice of clients to use which multiplies the configuration problems of a workable configuration for each user. Your comment could be read that you were challenging the reflecter as a means of speakup users communicating with each other. Which was in my opinion, irrelevent to your beneficial and useful course of action to get an irc channel up and running. This assumes you want to automatically receive incoming files and dcc chats. If not, remove what you don't like. #cut here# # dcc auto-get for chats and files on ^dcc_request "% chat *" { dcc chat $0 } on ^dcc_request "% send *" { dcc get $0 $5 echo DCC: getting $5 from $0. } # status line set status_query (Query=%Q) set status_channel on %C set status_format %V: %@%N %C %+ %Q # messages set beep_on_msg msg on ^msg "*" { echo MSG: $0: $1- } on ^notice "*" { echo Notice: $0: $1- } #cut here# This is just my personal preferences.
