any speach synth support for the GDM?

Hi all,

Is there any kind of synth that will support the GDM, or any other GUI version of Linux? I suspect that there might be a software-based synth for that.

I'm a bit confused by your message. Gdm is the login manager for
gnome, and as far as I know, there is no speech support for it. There
is however speech support for the gnome environment, called
gnopernicus.

There is also Orca.  Speaking of Gnome, does anyone know of anyone who
is hosting Slackware packages of the latest version of Gnome?  It is no
longer being supported by the Slackware team and is a pain to compile
from source.

Hi
Dropline gnome is probably what you're looking for--it's a version of  
Gnome specifically for slackware that is kept up to date. You can get  
it at:
http://droplinegnome.net/
This is the version of Gnome I have installed on my Slackware box and  
I find it to work well. It's fairly easy to upgrade, also.
