Gdm is the login manager for gnome, and as far as I know, there is no speech support for it. There is however speech support for the gnome environment, called gnopernicus. It is no longer being supported by the Slackware team and is a pain to compile from source. Hi Dropline gnome is probably what you're looking for--it's a version of Gnome specifically for slackware that is kept up to date. You can get it at: http://droplinegnome.net/ This is the version of Gnome I have installed on my Slackware box and I find it to work well.
