I'm failing for lack of a -lreadline. I'm using GCC-3.0.4. Should I be
using 2.95? Or which of the several 'readline' hits under apt-cache
search do I actually need?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I believe that you need libreadline or whatever it's called; I just did
apt-get install libreadline* because I was in a hurry, but I did see it in
there somewhere; you might also need the libreadline-dev or something
similar package.

Hi. Just wondering what version of Debian you are running? Stable uses
