Hi All,

Now that I have the Linux box up and running on the router, I visited
Hellas BBS through telnet and experienced once again the good old bulletin
board days. If you open www.hellasbbs.com or was it Net, but I think .com,
you'll get a shot at playing all those text based BBS games like Barren
Realms. It was cool!

Hello listers.
Is it possible to use Workbone with speakup? I can play 1 track at a
time, but the interactive interface seems to give fits because of the
number pad and Speakup's reliance on it.
Is there another utility out there that works better?
Thanks.

Dan -
If you use the number keys at the top of your qwerty keyboard
they will perform just as the numeric keypad numbers are supposed
to. However, there is a better utility, IMHO, at:

http://jac.sourceforge.net

It is a great little utility.

Here's a totally uneducated and uninformed guess, since I haven't started
using SpeakUp yet.

Can't you just turn off the NumLock to access the numPad numbers?

Sorry for the dumb question.

Nope, it does not work like that. The numlock key says "numlock
on" and "numlock off" but it does not change any of the functions
of the keypad keys.

Chuck,

Do you by any chance have a slackware package of jac or do you know if there are any out there that are relatively recent?
I'm asking because I had trouble building cdcd from sources, which makes me wery of cd playing programs.

Greg -
The package on sourceforge is a source package, distribution
independent; you just compile it and install it and away you go.
Let me know if you want me to send it to you.

Hi, workbone works great with speakup. Just use the number keys a above
the letter keys. I believe to play an entire cd just press number seven on
the number row above the letter keys.

I configured, compiled, and installed it yesterday without any hitches so
far. I know what you mean about some of those packages though. I recall
a while back having to upgrade my readline library from gnu sources in
order for libcdaudio to work in order for cdcd to work, if you know what I
mean. And this is with a slackware 8.0 settup.

Yeah, I know what you mean with the same setup.
Fortunately, I downloaded jac yesterday, and it works nicely.
