well if u want to talk to one of the people on the reflecter one on one,
look at the lwl page on the speakup site and get the ip from there otherwise
ask the person to ping themselves and that might help you..

Now I don't know about howyou do it in speafreely. I can tell you that
obtaining the ip numbers is the point of the servers for netmeeting and
most any other similar program.
If you (or your friend) have static ip addresses it is pretty easy. Just
ask each other. If you have dynamic ip addresses you could email the ip
address to each other after connecting to the internet in preperation for
talking to each other. Or you can take the easy way out and connect to a
server.

The lwl servers hold the name email address and current
ip of the people that register with them. The speakup reflector
also has a webpage to show you who is online. I don't know if you can
register with an lwl server on bumpy but if you can;
then pulling up the webpage gives you a list of people who have sfspeaker running on their machines.
Simply cut and paste the ip address and run sfmike ip address
and off you go. It's not as point and smite as
netmeeting is; but it is far simpler
to setup, far smaller to download and has worked
for far longer than net meeting has been in existance.
If you need open h.323 interoperability check out
either the voxilla project or
http://www.openh323.org I hear they
interoperate with net meeting to a certain degree.

Actually, the ifconfig command will give you your own current I/P address.
Just look at the entry for the PPP connection you are using. Example: ppp0.
You could construct a script that filters the output of the ifconfig command
soonly the ip address is shown; thus you could stick it in a variable or
whatever you want.

Hi:
Yes it is possible to use the sflwl program to search an lwl server to see
if someone is online. This is useful in order to resolve IP addresses so
that you can connect to them directly (as Shaun mentioned). However, in
practice, the sflwl program is probably more hassle than it's worth. It's
much easier to look at the webpage generated by sflwld than using sflwl, as
you can browse the information that is there rather than having to search
for it.
You can see the speakup lwl server page at
http://lwl.braille.uwo.ca/online.html or see who is on the reflector by
looking at http://lwl.braille.uwo.ca/speakup.html. Note that searching by
E-mail address will only work if the person has their E=mail address
defined in the SPEAKFREE_ID variable when sfspeaker is run. Frank, for
example, does not.
In order to connect directly to another person, run one instance of
sfspeaker on the default 2074 port (or any other agreed upon port) and give
sfmike the IP address to connect to. Note that the person at the other end
will have to do the same thing for you to have a 2-way conversation, but
they will hear you if their sfspeaker is running when you connect. You can
set sfspeaker to automatically write you a script that can be invoked to
answer an incoming call by using the -a option (e.g. sfspeaker
-a/home/geoff/answer). This script contains the sfmike command needed to
answer the current incoming call.
