I tried to update my existing Redhat 7.1 to 7.2 using the bootdisk, loaded with Speakup1.0. However, strange things started to happen. First of all, the numpad keys stopped working on the first or second step of the installation. Second, I had to once even reinitialize the update procedure because Speakup completely stopped speaking. Well, first off you can put Red Hat into a text mode setup by typing something such as. text speakup_synth=synth This will put the installation into text mode, and also tells the kernel to load speakup with a specific synth. Note, to replace synth with the synth name such as: speakup_synth=dectlk for the Dectalk Express. In answer to your question about a monitor it depends on if you plan to configure x windows. I'm looking at Gnome 2 cvs so naturally I had to configure x, and that requires a monitor. However, if you don't install x or don't want to set it up you won't need a monitor. The bash shell works fine with out a monitor. Suggestion here.
