Hello!
I want to install speakup on my running system with fedora core 6.
However, I can't do that, because when I try with the 2.6.18 kernel that comes with fedora, I get only errors saying no rule to... and that some files doesn't exist.
So the patch doesn't work either.
So I've tried to download and use a 2.6.19 kernel. it compiles ok, without speakup, but when trying the install scripts it just hunks and rejects everything.
There where some errors with keyboard.c as well at patching, and when compiling the kernel it stops with errors in keyboard.
What is this?
DOesn't speakup work on fc6?
Shall I install fedora core 2 instead, since that was the last distribution speakup worked on or what shall I do?
/Kristoffer

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.
There are CD images and a DVD one for FC6 modified with Speakup, at
www.speakupmodified.org
Sorry if that's where you went for the patch and the 2.19 kernel, so you
know already, but I couldn't tell that from your message.
I and some others couldn't install FC6 using CD's burned from the images
there. I gather people also have had trouble with DVD's. Either might work
fine for you, though. I ended up installing FC6 from my /home partition,
using the DVD image.
If you need to backtrack nonetheless, there are FC3 images. I forget the
exact path to them, but it began from
www.linux-speakup.org
I'm still at the low end of the knowledge spectrum, so somebody else may
give you better advice.
