Actually, Red Hat has ceased creating an /usr/src/linux symlink.
They create /usr/src/linux-2.4 as a symlink to the kernel
sources. I generally just create a symlinux called linux to this
one, but I do do it by hand.

Ok, I plan on getting the speakup redhat rpm file, but I've already created
the linux simlink in /usr/src, and ran ./install
It worked, but I got some errors, but they appeared to be errors for
processors I don't run, I don't believe I got any i386 errors.
My question is, will I have problems now since I ran the ./install, and
probably some patches were made somewhere?
Another questions is, I ran make config( I believe it was make config) and
was going through the kernel, if I don't know what to choose in Redhat 7.2,
if I just press enter, will it take the option already in the kernel?
BTW, I've never recompiled the kernel on this box, I've compiled at least
one kernel before, but it's been a long time, I think redhat 5.x.

Hi Jeremy,
Sorry about that. I haven't attempted to build a kernel of my own since
I installed 7.3. (See Janina's message). If you are building from
stock Redhat kernel source rpms it is normal to get errors for other
processors--you should be fine. However, if these errors bug you, you
can always get the full kernel source at ftp.kernel.org.I think though
I'd stick with the official Redhat stuff.

Hi, I don't believe there is a kernel directory in the
/pub/speakup/disks/redhat/7.2/kernel directory. There is either a kernel or
kernels directory in the 7.3 directory.
Also, I think there may have been kernels in the 7.2 directory, but what if
I have 2.4.7-10, do I just need the kernel rpm, or do I need to upgrade
other kernel rpms as well? Also, one more question, what kernel do I need as
far as the 386, etc. I have a pIII 1.2GHZ.
