There is a text-mode msn messenger engine being developed for linux.
Visit http://lmme.sourceforge.net. Encourage this guy to continue with
the text-mode interface. There's a dumb mode and ncurses mode. The
ncurses mode is funky, but the strait dumb mode works just fine.

Hi:

Since lmme.sourceforge.net redirects by using javascript, I'll post the
address it redirects to:

http://messiah.2y.net:81/lmme/

Note though that you'll have to visit either the sourceforge project page
or the freshmeat project page (both linked off the home page) to actually
download the thing.

And now, a question. How do you select interface? The readme says you
can, but only at compile time, but doesn't tell you how. './configure
--help' and 'make --help' didn't shed any further light on this. I want to
try and escape the repeating status line.

Geoff.

I had the same problem. I undefined have_ncurses_h in config.h and
compiled. I'm also trying to escape the status line. The code for that
is in interface_module.C and I'm working to eliminate the function that
gets repeatedly called to do that status update.

Same here. I grabbed the thing, but I'm not sure about how to get it into
dumb mode.

I took Josh's advice. Man, it's called dumb mode for a reason. It doesn't
even seem to support backspacing. Someone should really tell that guy
about libreadline, or at least get him to rip code out of MICQ. I decided
to use version 0.5.1alpha which I already had here, but it has its own
short-comings. But at least it doesn't redraw the status line.

To get it into dumb mode edit the file called interfaceModule.C and
interfaceModule.h. Do a search for Dumb, change Dumb=0 to 1. At least
that is all I did and it seems to really
be in dumb mode.

It works ok but for backspacing I have to control-h so it's not really
worth it to me if I typo. people will have to live with my typos. Also
when I /quit I get a segment fault error at the very end. It's a nice
start though. If anyone wants to play chatting with me my userid on msn
is ragallegos@hotmail.com which is basically my spam address lol.
