I have somewhere and will look for an article from the Sues site that
details specifically that braille is supported, however I amnot a braille
user at all, so cannot say anything firsthand as to its abilities. In
fact I had wondered
why Sues was not spoken of here, although I understand why from these
exchanges. Given this information suggested how important braille access
was to them, perhaps you may be better ser served asking those directly
involved with the Sues distribution.
braille has always been important to them, although the lack of references
to speech led me to look elsewhere.
I will post the article when I find where it is in my system.

Hi, yes i've seen people working with Braile and a software-speach, on a
suse system.
They told me some Brailedisplays would be automatically detect during
installation and it would be switched in a textmodus and all should be
usable by a blind person.
but my combibraile does not belong to the braildisplays , which will be
detected.
I saw a site on the web, sblinux or blinux? where these displays are
mentioned.
Sorry i can be of more help.
The braildriver is called sblinux, if memory serves me right.
Good luck,
Lutz

Hello,
You can find the package that suse uses at,
ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/blinux/src/
This contains documentation for it. In fact the version there says it does
support combibraille.

Hi, Darragh:
If you absolutely must have direct access to the GUI, I think you're
going to find Suse 9.3 impractical. That's my kindest word for it.
If, however, you can work on the CLI, I suspect you'll have excellent
access with suse-blinux. I do believe there's an unresolved issue with
text based yast, currently, that would need to be resolved. I'm sure
Marco is working on it. You would also need a supported braille display.
When I last looked, Suse was big on displays common in Europe, but not
so much on those used more here in North America.
So, what's the job? Can you say?
