Announcing version 4.0 of the

Speakup Modified Fedora Distribution Installation HOWTO

In November Red Hat created the Fedora Project and released Fedora Core
1.0. The Speakup Modified Fedora Distribution was released shortly
thereafter at a new web address:

http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/fedora/

And now our widely used, thoroughly cross-referenced, plain speaking
guide to eyes-free Linux installation has also been revised to reflect
all the changes that come with the Speakup Modified Fedora Distribution.
Our Installation HOWTO is also at a new web address, so please bookmark
this location, or just download your own copy from:

http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/fedora/HOWTO_INSTALL.html

Janina and Bill,

Thanks for your time and effort on this HOWTO. I haven't tried the
installation, yet, but I did notice that all of the links in the Table of
Contents point to the same, wrong place.

Hi, Joe:

The last thing I did before releasing the HOWTO was to test each and
every link myself, by hand.

So, when you say they all point to "the same wrong place," can you
please explain what you mean?

The Table of Contents links should go directly to the section named.
They do for me whether I view the document on line, or whether I view it
in my browser off my hard drive--my downloaded copy.

Is this not happening for you? What browser are you uwing? And what
place do the links take you?

Hi Janina,

Well, my first problem is probably, that I am using that nasty piece of
software from Redmond called IE 6.X. When I click on any link in the TOC,
the url in my browser reads
http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/fedora/#sec3
With the #secX number changing, but the text in the browser window is always
for the "Recommended Reading" page.

OK, Joe. I think I see what's happening. Thanks for specifying what IE
sees. I've made a tiny change. Can you try it again? But be sure you
aren't getting it out of your cache! You need to get a fresh copy from:

http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/fedora/HOWTO_INSTALL.html

There's a way (somewhere on that toolbar) to flush your cache, if you
need to.

I changed the <base href which didn't used to point directly to the doc,
whereas all the offsets where from the doc itself.

So, I think this is something tidy should have caught.
