Yes, I did it. Apollo starts talking when linux boots.
The only problem is when I load network service in interactive startup
apollo stops talking. For example: when I'm writting root and the password
it stops talking, or after login. When I don't start this service, it goes
well.
As I said, I have a usb modem. I'm thinking on this problem... Is it
possible that speakup stops talking due to a failure of detecting modem?
My modem is a
Motorola SurfBoard 4200 USB Cable Modem.
How do I see if my modem is detected? And if system don't detect it what can
I do?
I'm confused with this situation.

As part of your install, did you do the step that has you run mkinitrd?
If not, you will need to do this.
The steps on how to do this are explained in the howto, but I ask
because you didn't mention it in your note.
