Dear Friends,
I installed fedora core2 at my home which was not speak modified.
Later I came to know that to make it speakup enabled I need to install a
speakup modified kernel.
When I browsed the link which is given below
http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/fedora/2/RPMS
I was given a number of Kernels.
I am giving my Pc's configuration.
Intel P4 processor with 2.56 ghz speed and 256 MB of Ram.
You are requested to go through the site and suggest me an apt kernel.
Please revert back if any clarification is required.
I am very new to linux and have no proper idea about kernel etc.
Hope to here from you.

Hi, Why go with fedora core 2 when fedora core 4 with speakup is going to be
released soon? If I were you, I would just wait and reinstall from scratch
once fedora core 4 is ready with speakup. The kernel you should use is the
i586 or you can use the i686, either one would work, I usually use the i586
ones even though I have a 1.9ghz processer and it works just fine but sense
I crashed my system I am just going to wait on fedora core 4 and reformat
and reinstall the system. bye

You need the i686 kernel. Do not use the kernel market kernel-smp* as
this is for machines with more than one cpu.

Install as follows:

rpm -iv [kernel.package.name]

You will then need to create an initrd file for your speech synthesizer.
Follow the steps in the Installation HOWTO:
