Joseph,
Can you recommend a speech-enabled rescue CD for Linux? I was surprised
to learn that Disk #2 of SW 10.1 did not offer such a capability. Is my
10.0 disk #2 still the best bet for such a disk, or is there another one
to be preferred?
Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck, In my opinion the Knoppix CD image is a really great rescue
device. It is pretty well a complete distribution on a CD.

Chuck,
There is always knoppix. Also, I'm working on a CD based distro called
Dolphix which will provide this capability. We should have that
available shortly, though I can't give a time because most of the
developers of this project are students and don't have a lot of time.

Chuck,
On the speakup list I mentioned a CD based distro I'm working on called
Dolphix. If you like, I can provide you a prelim test version to play
with and you can give us suggestions prior to public release. Let me
know if you're interested.

I read this thread but I didn't see the LinuxFromScratch Live CD
mentioned. I t's about half the size of knoppix to download and has a
good basic system without all the GUI goop. It also has a full C and
C++ development environment as the goal of the disc is to build a Linux
distro from it. I use it all the time and it works great!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I may give most of them a try before
settling on one. I need no rescuing at the moment, but I'm sure I will
need rescuing when I least expect it.
Too bad the Slackware CD's are getting so crowded.

Hey guys:
Please look at your emails before you send. you are sending to the list
and ccing to the list in this thread so your messages are posting twice.
Not a huge deal
but could be avoided. I erased the cc on this message so this message
should go through only once.

Maybe Patrick should consider adding a fifth disk to the slackware disk
set (smile).

That, or make the third or fourth discs rescue discs. I believe there is
room on one of them. The rescue stuff didn't take that much space on the
second disc, but the problem is that disc 2 is now so full that the
rescue image just doesn't fit.
