Problem is, it doesn't have any serial ports--they're getting harder to find by the day. I remember a while back it was discussed that RH9 could be installed via telnet. Is this possible with FC2 and if so how would I go about it? Everything in this laptop is linux compatible, so getting the network adapter up and running isn't going to be an issue, so I'd like to install FC2 this way if the option is available. Hi OK, the installer runs, but I can't connect to it. Here's what I get the first time I try to telnet into the IP it's using: Trying 192.168.1.102... Connected to 192.168.1.102. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. and if I try again after that I get a simple connection refused message. I'm trying to telnet in through my linux desktop using the standard telnet command. What am I missing? This s a DHCP-supplied IP, if I give it an IP manually and try to telnet in it just hangs there indefinitely. I even tried running nmap on it and it appears that *all* ports are closed. Do I need to configure a something in my router, a port forward to forward the telnet port, perhaps? No, they broke telnet installation in Fedora 2. This bug was reported via Bugzilla. Bill also got a fix working which we tested. But, you need a recent Speakup Modified. You should really also get the MD5SUM file, which is blessedly small. But, if you do via rsync, you might do two rsync commands in the following order: rsync -avz bumpy.braille.uwo.ca::ftp/speakup/disks/fedora/current/MD5SUM . rsync -avz bumpy.braille.uwo.ca::ftp/speakup/disks/fedora/current/*iso .
