Hey guys,
Look for a package called mlbviewer. It's written in python and can
play audio using mplayer.
I just discovered it after reading Cheryl's notes. After you configure
your user, password and player, you start the program and it displays a
listing of today's games. Just enter on the one you want, and away you
go! The cursor doesn't follow the up/down arrows, but the selected item
is highlighted.
Hurray for the command-line!
Chris

Hi Chris and all.
Looks like it's at sourceforge; googling found it. It says it's for mlbtv;
do you know if it also works with just gameday audio if you don't have
mlb.tv; the sourceforge blurb says it's for mlbtv but there's a hot key
for gameday audio.
Also, would you mind posting what you did with your config file; I see t
says to use %s but do you just put that at the end of the player lines?
And do you use these xterm commands or not? If so, what value do you use
for display=? I'm asking because I'm getting errors about object has no
attributes?
thanks.

Ok, I got it to work when I took out the xterm designations. But I'm having
a little difficulty telling which game I'm on as the hilighted line just
shows the status and the file 800K etc. I guess I can go to the top and
count from there so it just will take some experimenting,
This is so cool!!! Even though I now run windows, Macosx, and a little bit
of Orca, comandline linux is still my favorite whenever I can use it!!!
Thanks a million Chris!!! I owe you BIG!!!

I also took --quiet out of the mplayer designation; I just feel better
seeing what mplayer is doing. It just means I have to hit q to get back to
the mlbviewer list.
This is so unbelievable!!!

Cheryl,
Glad you figured out how to use it. You can also hit ctrl-c if you attempt
to go into a game with no audio feed.
I may submit a patch to have the cursor follow the arrow keys.
I'll also inquire about adapting this for nfl games.

What about CSTV? That is College Sports TV. I like to follow college
football (in particular, USC Trojans). So far, I've had to go to
cstv.com and I think it uses flash or something. In fact, it is so
limitted that I had to use Internet Exploder; I couldn't even use
Firefox under windows to play them. So I don't know how possible it
is to use mlbviewer; cool idea though.
