Hello,
Is there a module for software speech in speakup? I have the module for the apollo loading in the kernel but want to change over to viavoice thanks to kenny's instructions.
I have viavoice working, its speaking with the command vs "this is a test" so I suppose its a matter of getting speech dispatcher and speechd_up working with it.
Any suggestions welcome.

Hi.
My instructions were to forget it, so you have me confused with someone
else.
To answer your question, the module for software speech in speakup is
called speakup_sftsyn.

Hi,
It is me you might be thinking of.
Write me off-list with the following info:
1. Which linux distribution are you funning?
2. Have you already compiled speech-dispatcher?
3. Have you already compiled speechd_up?
If all the answers is yes, you only need to give the following command
extra to the instructions I gave you:
mknod /dev/softsynth c 10 26
Then run software_speech
To the others on the list, I gave some scripts and instructions to Darragh
privately.
This include some wrapper scripts and the configuration files for
speech-dispatcher to make viavoice work with speakup.
It is not that streamlined, but if some of you want to try it, you should
still be able to download the 24 megabyte file from:
ftp://ftp.icomtek.csir.co.za/pub/in/wvdwalt/speech.tgz
Extract it anywhere with tar zxvf speech.tgz. It creates a directory
called speech.
There is a rough README trying to explain what should happen next.
Regards, Willem
