To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.
As the subject line suggests, I got in, but I still cannot seem to access my
drive with Debian on it.
I do
su
and I tried su root
and I tried su root /dev/hda1
and every time I try to access the hard drive, I get the message:
access denied.
Anyone know how I can get past this?

You should mount your partition as root.
At a shell, do su -
then do mkdir /d
to make a directory where you can mount your debian drive.
then do
mount -t ext2 /dev/hda1 /d
then you should see your data under /d
