would allow you to participate in a live online conference?
I almost sent a copy of the invitation so you would understand what I mean.
I do not mean messenger programs, but programs that allow you to use a
microphone and communicate with others on line. A variation is programs
that allow you to communicate in a room set aside for this purpose even in
text.
If my question is not clear, I will post the invitations so you understand
my meaning.
Karen

Hi!

There are also H.323 MCU's, for exaample openmcu. To participate you'll
need H.323 client (ohphone, simpleopal, gnomemeeting, ...).

For testing purpose you can use my experimental MCU server (OpenH323 MCU
v1.1.9) at address testi@arimo.iki.fi.

Are there still debian packages of ohphone that are command-line based? When I
did a package search for ohphone it said ohphone was x based.

No, you can't just use it with whatever you want, you need to
connect to either a reflector, or another machine running speak
freely.

Let me try again.
I will give an example of where I need to take part in conferences, with
this one being a text one.
i belong to an international broadcasting organization called air.
airmedia.org.
each month air hosts a members spotlite on their site where members join
in the discussion.
I cannot do this in lynx as it is a java based chat client.
For some reason elinks has not worked previously, but I am going to test
again now that our shellworld structure has updated this program.
if the chat is open, and I believe you need not be a member, you are
saying i could use this structure to go to their site and participate with
their client if it matches this standard?

Hi!

Ohphone is still cli-based, openphone has gui. However sor some reason
pwlib, one library required by ohphone, has difficulties with alsa and
i had manually disbale alsa and re-compile all libraries from scratch.
