What I really would love to do is to use my up-and-down arrows to select among
thousands of mp3s in a directory, rather than always type on a command-line.
Folks have suggested pilot and midnight commander, but mc has a strange look to
it--and pilot won't launch the song. I have a sighted linux wizzard who tried
it--and he says my arrows aren't working. So we thought to browse my directory
with lynx. That was more friendly, but all those rwx and dates which consumed
the space where the title would be.
So, from some1 new, are their any applications I can launch which will give me
a dos or windows my computer feel, so I can select among all these songs?
I am running a DecTalk-pc version 4.1C with RedHat9
Thanks so much in advance
Hart

I run a web site and currently have a programming running unmder Windows
that updates my URL with the right IP when my service provider decides that
it needs to change. I tried ez-ipupdate under Linux and find that it
updates with my 192.168.nn.nn address obtained from my router. I don't know
if putting the Linux box in the DMZ will solve this. I will try it. I
could continue to use the Windows program but I want to offload my Windows
server as soon as I can with what ever I can drag off it. It is dying.

I found a script that is written in perle. I compiled it and tried to run
it. After installing 4 snmp packages, it complained that the port was in
use when I started the script to read my router and update ez-ipupdate. I
looked the the conf file for snmp it it is way too advanced for me. It was
huge. If any one has a good program that signs on to a router to get the IP
let me know. My Windows program does that. My IP provider or what ever you
call such things is easydns.com

Rejean

Hi!

 A dd following line
LIST_FORMAT:%a
at the end of your global lynx.cfg file (usually /usr/local/lib/lynx.cfg)
but you can find it's filename first opening options menu with 'o' and
choosing link
View the file [2]lynx.cfg

Hi. I'm pretty sure there are some clients on dyndns.org that can get your
external ip if you're behind a router.

Larry,
I think lynx is the way to go. You can change what is displayed in the
directory listing by editing some variable in lynx.cfg. I haven't done
this but perhaps someone on the list can give you an example.

Chris
