When I installed proftp it asked me a bunch of questions which I wish I
could answer again now that I know a little more. There is a script that
runs that initial setup, but I can find it any where in the docs. any one
know what that script is that does the initial configuration?

Try dpkg-reconfigure proftpd or just edit /etc/proftpd.conf and
restart it.

Can anyone tell me how to set the command line for cdparanoia to fetch the
cddb info from the web when ripping songs form a cd? If there is no
option since I did not see any in the docs, then is there a text based
ripper that will do that? I have looked on the freedb.org web site and
only saw X applications. Thanks.

Try the perl script called tear
It will do the whole ripping and mp3 encoding process in one step.

I use a perl script called rip, which uses cdparanoia to rip the audio,
cddb Perl modules to grab the cddb info, and then one of several
compression libs, or none if you want, to create wav, ogg or mp3 files.

Cheers.

Can you send me the script as an attachment to a private msg?
