What I want to know, is are there tips to getting links to play nice? I'm having problems moving to some links on pages, and in others, if the page is in columns it reads very badly. I'm in desperate need of a browser that supports java script, so I can fill out some financial aid applications for school. This is off the top of my head so may not be fully accurate: 1.) You can get the hyperlinks to be numbered. I find that helpful. 2.) You can get the cursor to track. That's critical, of course. But, I think that's about it. The chain does not do the table serialization thing like the cat does, therefore you get islands of text on screen that someone can see belong together, but that reads very poorly with a screen reader's basically left to right and top to bottom reading strategy. Also, not all javascript pages will work. I'm sorry, I don't recall all the details. Hope this helps, though. The only things I know about elinks, are that: (1) It allows background downloading of large files, which is nice; (2) for some sucky reason, it installs instead of what you want, if you do an "apt-get install links"; (3) I don't like its linking stratagy--it handles numbered links of all types, somewhat in the way lynx the cat handles numbered form submit buttons (that is: type the number, press enter, then press enter again to activate); and (4) I don't like it. Yes, you can do the same with elinks. The options are in a different location from links. I have a better way to deal with tables in elinks. There is a lua script included with the elinks source. I put this script in my .elinks directory. The script is bound to the letter v. The script will take the current page and reformat it into a single column like lynx. The nice thing about using this script is I can start on a sight with tables beeing displayed corectly and only reformat it if I need to. Hmm, how do you get the numbered links, and the cursor to track? I don't see an option for the numbered links, and the closest I got to cursor tracking, was to turn the "block cursor" thing off, but even that doesn't track really well, just makes it a bit easier to understand. Move down to "HTML Options", and press enter. Press the down arrow, 4 times, then press space. That will turn on link numbering. Next, press enter to save your choices. Then, press escape, followed by "v" again, move down to "Save HTML Options", and press enter on that. If I'm not mistaken, that should also turn on cursor showing.
