Hi all.
I seem to be missing a library when trying to play ogg/vorbis files.
ogg123: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.2: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
I've looked on the slackware 9.0 cd-rom for libcurl*.tgz, but didn't
find anything.
Next, I reinstalled the oggutils package that comes with slack 9.0,
but that still didn't help.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?
Thanks.
Greg

The package is called curl-7.10.3-i386.tgz. Not sure why the Vorbis tools
need it, but that's the package. Speaking of Vorbis, is there a better
player than ogg123? That is, one that can fast-forward, rewind, pause,
etc. rather than just playing straight through? Such players exist for
MP3, but they don't seem to for Vorbis.

Though imho its documentation is lacking, zinf (formerly known as
freeamp) works nicely. Kirk explained a fix that has made all the
difference in the world for me getting it to work with alsa. In your
~/.zinf/preferences file you will find a line like SoftMixer: true.
Change this to false and it magicly works.
There is also mplayer, but it seems like overkill as it does more than I need.

There's always zinf. Just make sure to get zinf-2.2.1, the 2.2.2 version I
couldn't get to build. Problem is that fast forwarding through vorbis
files doesn't work properly. I think it might have something to do with
time indexing i.e., time elapsed vs. time remaining.

I just received an anouncement this evening that zinf 2.2.4 was
released on sourceforge. I haven't tried it yet but will later on.

Hmm. Thanks for the pointer Steve. I didn't know Zinf was still actively
being developed. From what I saw there wasn't a lot of activity, however
it seems I am wrong on this.

Has anyone gotten any version of zinf to play after having been compiled
for oss?
