Hi all. I am trying to determine whether or not I have onboard USB-2.0 or
USB-1.1. I could either possibly determine this by checking the transfer
rate of data between the usb port and the external hdd that I have or try
determining the version by some other means? Bc if I have a usb-1.1
onboard set of ports that means I have to grab a USB2 card to interface
with my external hdd.

May you code in the power of the source,
may the kernel, libraries, and utilities be with you,
throughout all distributions until the end of the epoch.

Hi
Try the lspci command as root and look for a line that says "usb 2.0
controller." Most onboard controllers on modern motherboards appear through
the linux PCI system. If you only see "usb controller" or "usb 1.1
controller," then you don't have it.
