Hi all.
I just compiled and installed gnupg, and absolutely like it, it does everything Mcafee fortress did for me under windblows and more.
However, I have to think of the unpleasant possibility of how can I decrypt my files under windblows? The web page mentions that you need a "special setup" to compile it under win32. Since win32 does not have /dev/random and friends, this special setup doesn't sound like a walk in the park.
I tried looking for a trustworthy win32 package of gnupg that I could grab from somewhere, but didn't find one (I have to admit I didn't look too hard though (grin)).
So, my question is, does anyone know of a trustworthy source for win32 gnupg packages? Somehow, I have the sinking feeling that pgp 6.0 for windows would not decrypt .gpg files. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Greg,
Did you download the precompiled winblows binaries? I just got them a few
days ago and haven't had a chance to play with them so I don't know how well
they work.

No. Where can I get them from? I didn't see them in gnupg.org's download section.

I got them on ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/binaries. There are several zip
packages, I just got the latest one.

Thanks. They didn't mention anywhere on their web page that win32 compiled binaries were avalibale, and I didn't look much around the ftp site (probably should have done that).

Yeah I also noticed that they didn't mention win32, I guess most of their
users are using gnu/linux. The only reason I looked so hard around their
site is because I couldn't get a hold of pgp so I thought I'd give gpg a
try.

I went for gpg right away, because it's all patent free. The only reason I want a windows binary is if I need to access my files, and I don't have a gnu/linux box handy.

Hey everyone, I'm on. Had to telnet instead of ssh because ssh didn't ask
for my drizzle login and so didn't accept my Drizzle password, but I'm on.
My first happiness.
Now then, for my next question. How do I make my modem accessible to my
nonroot user, because dialing in as root is bad yes?
Thank you for all support everyone. I have now taken the first step!

To use ssh, you need to do "ssh username@server". Then, it will ask for your password, and you'll be on.

Another thing I would like to add to this is if you need to include a
username in the login the coommand would look llike this "ssh
domainname.whatever -l username".

Yes, both methods work. So, it comes down to whatever you like best I guess.
