I've heard that slrn is good.
Explorer has caused a general protection fault in module kernel32.dll. I'm
sick of Winblows!

Hi. Pine works fairly well as a newsreader. However the problem arises
when you hit a binary group and you have many parts of a file in multiple
posts. Have you tried tin?
microsoft dialogue
This company has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, delete winblows and install linux

Hi:
You have lots of choices. I actually use pine to read news, since I use it
to read mail and having the two integrated is nice. But a standalone
newsreader is probably going to have mroe features.
You can even read news with lynx if you want to - news:groupname as long as
you've specified an NNTP server in the lynx configuration file.

Chris, you could most certainly use Pine to read news and I know others
on list have used mutt too though I have no personal experience with
regard to using mutt to read news groups. Hth. Ed

There is an NNTP patch for mutt which you can find at
http://mutt.kiev.ua/download/mutt-1.4/patch-1.4.vvv.nntp.gz. If you
don't mind compiling sources grab the mutt 1.4 sources and this patch
and give it a try. It works quite nice. I use it here.

have you taken a look at rn? TRN is basically a threaded newsreader. Then
of course their's tin, which is pretty nice. I however use trn and tin,
even pine. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

Personally, I use SLRN, I like the way it does stuff, but I have also used
Pine on this system, especially now that it supports threading, I would
never countenance using a reader that doesn't have this facility.
The main advantage that SLRN has over Pine though is its kill file, very
nice indeed, though I suppose you can get around this if you use leafnode
and the filtering rules it contains.

Errrrrrrm?!? Outlook Express news reading, nice? Oh well, each to his
own, I suppose.
Cheers.
