Hi. I've built several 2.4.18 kernels, and haven't encountered that problem.
I'm not really sure exactly what the problem is. Do you have the latest
kernel headers?

Hi. That's one thing I never considered. Which library (s) would be
considered containing the kernel headers? libc6/glibc? I'm going to put
gcc-3.2 on that machine anyway, so possibly the latest headers will be
installed at that time? I just can't remember which one contains the
kernel headers I used to know though. I checked the kernel howto and I
didn't find a mention to the header problem, but again the steps given
there are for 1.x kernel (I think that the howto needs some updating). So
do you know which lib contains the h's? Thanks again!

Hi all. I'm trying to rebuild a kernel on a friend's machine. He runs
Slackware 8.0 and is using Ext3 as the native filesystem. He has
gcc-2.95.3 currently, however I'm thinking of building 3.2 on the machine.
The problem is that at ocmpile time, I eventually get errors in valloc.c
during make bzImage. I tried including CONFIG_JBD in .config, however this
hasn't resolved it. He could also be missing some libraries, however
whether he is or isn't I haven't been able to determine this. Has anyone
experienced compile errors when rebuilding 2.4.18 in the ext3 driver?
Thanks!
