Please see answers below your response.
What synth are you using? Also are you using
I amusing a DoubleTalk Lt.
lilo or Grub as your boot loader?
I am using Lilo as the boot loader. If you are using lilo the shift key will
stop the boot process entirely. You then get a lilo prompt or a "boot."
Also are you using the stock kernel 2.2.19pre21-idepci or a newer kernel?
I am using the kernel that actually is on the Speakup site in the 2.2r2
Debian iso. I am not sure what kernel it is.

Are you sure its a kernel panic and not a lilo/boot prompt? Bc what you
could try is hitting shift once the bios checks for the floppy drive and
type speakup_synth=dtlk.

Well the way I have the bios set up right now is so that the hard drive
loads then a and then the cd rom but I found if I had it the other way it
would do fine maybe I need to change it back to where it was before cause I
just tried your idea and hit the shift key after I heard the floppy drive
which was after the post beep. I am not sure but I am assuming you are
saying the floppy drive should be checked before the post beep? Btw I am
using the Doubletalk lt but I understood what you meant.

I'd set it so the floppy drive boots first then the cd and last the hard
drive. This makes booting from disk or cd easier
Explorer has caused a general protection fault in module kernel32.dll. I'm
sick of Winblows!
