what im here for

I know i've done my share of windows bashing on this list, but I will
refrain from that from now on if possible.  I am just here to learn what i
can about speakup and linux so, I appologize to those I may have offended or
anything.  I realize there are times windows is a pain but..this list isnt
called "windowsbashing101" :)

And I'm here for that same reason too, but I'm just less willing to give up
windows than most here. That said, lets bring this bickering over windows
to an end, I know your guy's opinion, you know mine, I'm not going to try
chaning yours, and your not going to change mine. Besides, all this
shouting about whether windows is the best thing since sliced bread or the
digestive flotsome of an eel is pulling down my dialup bandwidth to
download the redhat isos, so lets call a truce, huh?

So where do I get a stream player?

Hello All,

	Well, I tried to get freeamp and the web site is either down for a 
time or forever.  Then I tried rtplayer, but no luck finding where I can 
download an rpm or anything else.  Then I looked for something lese and 
foundan X-windows player but don't know if it would run in console mode.  
Hope we are not headed in the same direction of Windows where DOS would 
always be there and now it ain't.

	So where do I get aplayer?  Anyone know?

zinf is the replacement for freeamp. Apparrently freeamp had to change
it's name.

*lol* I'm not sure what distro you use, but apt-get install zinf* will
grab all of the packages for you in debian.

Hello Ann,

	Na.  Chocolate makes us all too mellow.  We start swooning over 
command lines and talking code.   Soon we get signed up for the next sci 
fi movie and start spending far too much time away from the computers.  
And it all started with a little piece of chocolate.

	Guess we are getting way oftopic here and so I'll just go away now 
and sink into the challenge of ACB for yet another day!

Hi Ann and all,

	Well ya know, I did get the file zinf and upon trying to run the 
rpm I gound that i needed yet another rpm first.  OK, so off I went and 
did that too.

	Now I installed both RPM's and guess what?  You got it -- a 
command line parameter is missing.  The -ui which I guess must be a user 
interface file or designation.  At that point I did what any sane person 
would do; I went off and watched adescribed movie on TV and a described 
video and said to myself, tomorrow is another day and if I ask one of 
those nice folks on the list, surely they will know what to do.  So here I 
am fresh from two cool movies and asking you all what I should be looking 
to do?

	So a rose is a rose but where on the comand line does the thorn 
go?  In fact what is the thorn when they call it a ui?

Charlie, you want TRPlayer, not RTPlayer, no wonder you couldn't find
it.  As you well know, computers are literal beasties, and if you ask
them for something, you better be sure you know exactly what you want
or they will claim they have never heard of the thing in their whole
lives before and they don't understand why you are bothering them!
You would get the same result if you asked a robot for a "sunday"
instead of a "sundae".  The bot would probably say something like,,
"You can not have a day of the week.  This is an illogical request.  I
can not compute this request, please try again."  Here try this URL:

and got some message from Matt about how he is not developing the thing

is out there for the command player, at least.  Now the real media
libraries, that's another matter.
