Hello all,
I've just re-installed Red Hat and cant remember where the file is for
changing the host, dms address and other similar settings. When I go into
links it says no host asined. I must have deleted one of the howto's and am
now stuck.
Thanks
Darragh
Oh by the way, Installation of Redhat and Modem went very well with that
exception

Hi. The file for editing nameservers is in /etc/resolv.conf. Your hostname
is in /etc/hostname, /etc/hosts.allow machines that are allowed to access
the system. Hope this helps.

Hi Darragh,
The hostname is set in /etc/sysconfig/network. The default line is:
HOST=localhost.localdomain
Just change it to what you want. When you reboot, it'll be right. But
this is Linux. Therefore, you can use the hostname command to set it on
the fly. For example, "hostname wb2flw.octothorp.org", without the quotes,
of course. The DNS server IP addresses are found in /etc/resolv.conf. It
could look something like:
search octothorp.org
nameserver 63.224.68.1
nameserver 206.124.1.134
You'd probably want to use name-servers that are closer to you, and you'd
probably want to put a more relevant domain in your search statement.
HTH.

PS.
It's almost time for 5-7-Live, one of my favorite programs. I just
wish that RTE would give us a bit more than 16Kb, though.

Hi William. I apologize for the mis-information. I wasn't aware that the
filepaths were different under Redhat.
