Hi all. Where can I get a Linux version of nfbtrans? The url
http://www.nfb.org/nfbtrans.htm points to a zipfile which contains dos
executables. Maybe the next thing I will try and do is try and build the
code on my Linux box, which is likely to not work. Where's the Linux
version I keep hearing about? Thanks for any information.

Igor:
I think if you look closely you'll see indications of Unix/linux support; for
instance there's a MAKEFILE and several .c files. You probably just saw all the
DOS files and thought you had the wrong package..
If you go into the README.TXT and search for unix you'll find complete
directions for installing nfbtrans. The one thing I should warn you of is that,
unless it has been corrected, one file has a different name than is shown when
you are doing the "make lowercase" and you'll end up having to change the name
of that file. There is another glitch or two that can happen; just holler if you
have any problems.

The zip does indeed include source code. Briefly, you have to rename
MAKEFILE to Makefile; run make lowercase; then make. I don't think
that there is a make install. You have to copy the binary to one of
your bin directories, and the *.tab and *.dic and maybe *.cnf files to
a lib directory. It's all in the readme...I'm reeling it off from
memory and I haven't installed it in a couple weeks.

Yep, been there, done that and I already back translated a book off
their web site already. Thanks for you all's help! The only thing
now is I lost page numbers in the resulting .txt file. Guess I need
to mess with some options perhaps. But the .brf files convert back
just fine.

Hi all. After I get the output of the .brl file from nfbtrans, is it just
a case of cp file.brl /dev/lp0 or whatever port my braille printer is on?
