Hi all. Don't know if my previous post on this was missed or what, but
here goes. Is Bill maintaining the Debian iso image? Please correct me if
I am wrong on this. Also, I am interested in helping out to update that
image to the
2.4.18 kernel. As far as I know, that iso is not actively maintained. As a
result, the kernel it has is a 2.2.18 kernel. I am just looking to make it
easier for people that are installing Debian for the first time with
Speakup, and make it so they don't have to rebuild their kernel to get the
most out of their system. Does anyone want me to go through with this? I
would like to get some feedback, either positive or
negative on this. Thanks!

Your right about the image being dormant for a while. It's dated 2/18/02
and contains the 2.2.18 kernel.

Updating the debian image would be a cool thing.
I did the one for Potato and I think Frank did the Woody one and I
wouldn't mind doing the Woddy one again but I don't have a machine on a
fast connection that has the hd space or horse power to do this in a good
amount of time.
Might want to talk to Frank about how he modified the installers because
when I did it I just replaced US key map with speakup and added speakup in
to the kernels and recompiled the images. Basically what I did was take
the kernel-source package and added speakup the tree and then made the
.bz2 file again and when the build script for the images went through the
questions the speakup ones weren't answered so I just answered those and
it finished.
Think they've change the process somewhat though since I plaid with it.

Hi Tommy. You mean you updated the potato image to the 2.2 kernel? What I was looking at doing was just updating the kernel in the potato image. However, the base system and other packages would remain the same, at least for now.
