Ryan,
Can mplayer work without X to hear the audio? I was able to play an mp3
file, but when I tried a windows media stream it starting looking for fonts
and hung.

Yeps Christopher. mplayer does play windows media streams if you have
everything installed correctly. I wrote a guide and posted it to this list
some time ago, I'm sure its in the archives somewhere. I dont have it
anymore. But if you have any specific questions ask and I can probably help
out.

I can't remember the exact date, but you should start by looking in March
2002 in the archives, around the 10th or so I think, but I might be able
to dig it out if you really can't find it. Still, I haven't got those Win
media streams working yet either.

I think there was a thread called "playing dvds in linux console" back in
March sometime, don't know how much that'll help.
Explorer has caused a general protection fault in module kernel32.dll. I'm
sick of Winblows!
