not sure if anyone can tell me this, but I need to know where the
sources-list file is located, I can't remember the directory name. if
someone can tell me this I'd appreciate it, or tell me how to find it.

If your talking about the sources list for Debian's Apt program, it is in
/etc/apt/sources.list.
