Hello Listers.
I just used the new speakup.s bootdisk to upgrade my system and all
went reasonably well, but I have one question.
Since the kernel was compiled with no specific synthesizer starting at
boot time, I have to give the synthesizer name at the lilo prompt on
boot-up. Is there any way of adding that line to the lilo.conf file
so I don't need to do this? this may have been mentioned but I wasn't
really paying attention at the time.
Any help would be appreciated, since although I don't mind doing it
this way I rather like my Speakup coming up automatically when I
choose Linux.

Yes, I believe it goes like this:
append "speakup_synth=spkout" or whatever.
I hope I'm not too far off on this one. I do know the append command goes
in there and it should go inside the boot parameters for the particular
kernel you would boot with.

Hi:
I wrote a message about putting the synth specification in lilo.conf today.
If you didn't see it and don't still have it, let me know and I'll repost
it.
Geoff.

Yes. Add an append= line like the following to your lilo.conf. Note that you need the quotes.
append="speakup_synth=xxxx"
where xxxx is the name of your synth.
