hey dood u got me curious why wireless networking?
do you think it's gonna improve your network speed or are you doing it for
convenience sake cause I don't think it's much more than 100 megabits per
second but hey let me know how you get on with it sounds like fun anyways..
Shaun..

Hi:

Actually, I expect it to be considerably less than 100mbps. We want to
network to a unit in the next apartment block. The flat is on about the
same level but we're a bit cagy about putting up a long network cable. so
we're investigating other means.

Geoff.

The usual problem with wireless networking for me has been
the raw expense of the transmitters and base station. I remember seeing
solutions for $1000 for the base station and $300 a card. A bit over my price limit
I'm afraid.

Regards, Kerry.

The good thing with Wireless networking is not the speed,
that can be as low as 256 killobits or as high as 10 megabits,
but the lack of wires. It is nice not to have to run cables all over the house.

Regards, Kerry.

I think best buy and circuit city sell wireless networking kits, but not
quite that expensive. Probably win only though.

There are now home market solutions that run about $150 per PC. I don't
know about drivers for Linux. I believe that you can reasonably expect 2.5
megabit bandwidth. The best on the market currently run 11 megabit to my
knowledge. PC magazine did a write up on home networking options recently.

Nothing is hard if you know the answer or are used to doing it.
