I don't know if this is already covered or not, but is there a "pass
through" key for speakup? I'm thinking of programs like workbone to play
CD's which uses the numeric keypad to operate it.

You can use the number keys along the top of the main keyboard for workbone. I use it that way. Chuck My web site is http://www.mhonline.net/~chuckh The Moon is Waning Gibbous (88% of Full) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 8+ messages in thread

And there's better CD players than WorkBone. One, cdcd, is command-line and interactive. The interactive thing is like a ftp-style prompt, where you'd enter commands like "play" and 'stop". And it supports CDDB, which workbone doesn't. However, workbone can be operated by the numbers on the regular keyboard as well. Though it's kind of hard to understand how the keys are layed out, because the help screens have the stuff layed out in the numeric keypad with arrows on screen rather than text. For example, stop is labeled with == rather than the word. This made it really hard for me to learn it. If you want it, cdcd is available at: http://cdcd.undergrid.net or I could send a slackware package if you want it. You and Buddy were absolutely right. What a pleasure this little program is. I especially like the cd database feature and have retrieved available info on my collection of CD's to start with. Thanks for the pointer. Chuck On Fri, 12 Jan 2001, Jacob Schmude wrote: > HI > Currently, there's no such thing. And there's better CD players than > WorkBone. I wonder if I could use the program in that primative state to take advantage of the CD database. The cdcd software installs ewasily enough; give it a try and tell us what happens.
