Hi, List:

What exactly is the relationship between /usr/include and the kernel
source tree at /usr/src/linux? Does the latter need to have a sym link to
the former somewhere? Where?

Thanks.

What I always recalled was the kernel source tree included
/usr/src/linux/include... Then there would be symlinks in /usr/include...
pointing back to the real source tree of the linux kernel. I'm not on my
linux box right now or I'd take a quick look to be sure.

Well, the stock 2.4.7 kernel creates an actual directory
/usr/src/linux/include. So, I'm still befuddled. I guess I can symlink all
the headers from /usr/include/linux into /usr/src/linux/include--but that
didn't work for me. My compile attempt choked, complaining about speakup,
actually.

I tried yesterday afternoon--downloaded linux-2.4.7 from ftp.kernels.org
and ran checkout to get speakup patched in. It would not compile.
