Hi all!
Thanks to Frank, I have gotten Slackware 8.0 running on this system. I wanted to do this even though I am building a computer which will be dedicated to running Linux but I wanted to go through this process ahead of time so I would know what I would be up against. Frank has also helped me with advice on what to get to assist with this project.
Also, I should thank all who have helped me with other aspects of my efforts over the last 7 months. If I tried to mention everyone by name, I would certainly leave someone out so I will just say thanks to everyone on this list who has helped. You are all great folks. Keep up the good work.
Enjoy!
Bruce

Folks,
Can someone give me a source for Slackware 8.0 using an 800 number? I
would like to ask a few questions before ordering.
Thanks,
Bob

You may find an 800 number for some distributer. But for that matter, you
can get someone to download and burn a copy for you I am sure. If you have
a fast connection and burner you can even do it yourself.

Hi all,
Thanks to the person that suggested
passing the -g flag to g++.
In conjuction with gdb, it beats the cout statements used for tracking down the error.
I'll keep that in the back of my mind, very handy.

Loading linux from floppy definitely takes much longer than loading DOS
takes. Still, 7 to 10 minutes is beyond the pale, as Chuck said. Are there
errors being reported?
PS: As one who recommended parted, I'm sorry you lost your Windows
partition. It is true that parted does not protect one against mistakes
like some of the commercialware does.

Hi all.
I'd like to thank Janina and Tyler for their suggestions on configuring my apache and ssl. A very big thank you goes out to Aaron who ended up having to log into my box in order to get things working. My apache and openssl are finally talking to each other and client browsers.
Also Aaron, disregard my e-mail on generating the key. I've found instructions on how to regenerate it, so I won't have to interact with the box when apache gets started. Thanks again.

Hello,
I just wanted to thank the speakup team for all their work developing and maintaining speakup. Since migrating to archlinux, I use the text-terminals
frequently with the aid of speakup.
I'd also like to thank the creator of the speakup-modified archlinux install CD. I had to dust it off yesterday to fix my system after an upgrade that
altered my grub/menu.lst file. Without my growing familiarity with speakup, this would have been a much more disasterous setback; but I was able to
successfully fix the issue without having to wait for sighted assistence.
Thank You:-)
